Hine opens new plant in Mexico and drives Aftermarket sales

HINE’s strategic plan for 2024 focuses on company acquisitions, international expansion and boosting Aftermarket services

HINE will start working on its first subsidiary in Mexico next July. This will be the first branch exclusively dedicated to the Aftermarket service business, with the distribution of components and spare parts for the wind energy sector. This new business centre will be managed from Philadelphia headquarters and directed by Íñigo González, General Manager of HINE Group in the USA. This new opening aims to triple the turnover of services in the country in the next 3 years.

Nowadays, HINE operates in wind energy sector with a large growth expectation in the future and has a market share of more than 60% in hydraulic systems among wind turbine manufacturers. Despite the pandemic and thanks to its international presence, HINE has grown in 2020 and has obtained “record sales”, exceeding 200 million euros. It has also announced this year expects to grow by 4%.

HINE subsidiaries in Brazil and China have made this increase in business a reality. In Brazil, sales in 2019 have been multiplied by 3, while in China, facilities and staff have been increased to face down the high demand of the Asian wind power market.

Over the last 15 years, Lander Guibelalde, HINE’s CEO, has guided HINE Group in this internationalization process, introducing the company in 5 different countries. The new strategic plan for 2024 has as its main objectives inorganic growth, through acquisition transactions that add value such as the acquisition of Pinilla in Zaragoza (Spain), international expansion and the consolidation of the Aftermarket services line.

At this point, Mr. Guibelade expressed the importance of service sales with this new opening in Mexico City: “So far, we had opened production plants integrated into systems division. All of them represent 67% of HINE’s Group’s turnover, but now we want to give more importance to service, a business area that currently represents 20% of the total group’s turnover. This is why we are going to set up a subsidiary in Mexico following this business model”. Mexico is a perfect location to promote aftermarket service, because it has a large number of wind farms with machines that require repairs, replacements, upgrades and diagnostics.

Another improvement Hine Group is working on this year, is the digitalisation of production and sales processes with the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning System at our Olaberria headquarters, which will be extended globally in 2022 and 2023. According to Mr. Guibelade “This will allow us to be more competitive and to be able to digitalise our systems. We are an ambitious company, we have big competitive advantages and we are preparing ourselves to face the future the best way”.
